COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Summer is right around the corner, but when it comes to that much needed vacation, experts warn packing your bags may also mean packing on the pounds.
According to a recent study from the University of Georgia, some people gain as much as seven pounds during a one to three week getaway.
Good Morning Columbia is offering up a few tips on how to avoid gaining weight while away on vacation:
- Keep breakfast under control. Dietitians say vacation lunches and dinners tend to be more indulgent, so be sure to set the right tone by showing control during the most important meal of the day.
- Beware the buffet. Piling your plate high full of goodies may also mean packing in a day’s worth of calories in one meal.
- Hit the grocery store and consider stocking up on fresh foods in order to make a few meals on your own.
- Pack plenty of snacks full of protein to munch on when you’re taking a break from all that sightseeing.
