ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell is warning residents that a jury duty scam is back, says the department.

According to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell the scam is back but this time the caller ID shows the sheriff’s office.

“We don’t call people demanding money over the phone, I assure you no money is involved if you actually do miss jury duty,” says the sheriff.

A resident reported to deputies that the caller demands an online cash payment for the warrant to go away.

If anyone receives a call they are urged to call the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office at 803-534-3550, the Orangeburg County Magistrate’s Office at 803-533-5879 or 5846 or the Orangeburg County Courthouse at 803-533-6260.
