Man charged with murder found dead in jail cell

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A man who was charged with murder was found dead in his jail cell shortly before midnight on Thursday night, says the Solicitor’s Office.

The Solicitor’s Office says Corey Perrine who was charged with the murder of Cletis Edward Baker in 2019, was found dead in his jail cell shortly before midnight on Jan. 11.

The Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office called Perrine’s case to trial on January 9, at the Kershaw County Courthouse and was expected to conclude on Friday.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) will lead the investigation into his death.  An autopsy is scheduled for today, Friday at 11:00 a.m.
