Police: Community Tips Lead To Discovery of Drugs, Assault Rifle

Fanning Arrest

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – An 18-year-old man is facing several charges after community tips lead to the discovery of drugs and an AR-15 assault rifle.

Jeramaine Dontay Fanning is charged with larceny, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of stolen weapons.

Following community tips about suspicious activity, to include the selling of narcotics in the area of Wilson Boulevard, deputies found several large baggies of marijuana, a pistol, vacuum sealing devices, packaging materials, several digital scales, an AR-15 assault rifle, a hand held police scanner, Playstation gaming systems, and a laptop in Fanning’s living area, authorities say.

Sheriff  Leon Lott believes that some of these items were possibly stolen from recent burglaries.

Fanning is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
