Body found in woods days after SC woman disappears

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Greenville County deputies found a body in the woods after relatives of a woman who disappeared days earlier found her belongings nearby.

Investigators say officers found the body about 9 p.m. Friday.

WYFF-TV reports that relatives of Linda Sue New called law enforcement after finding her belongings nearby.

Deputies say her sister reported her missing on Wednesday. She was last seen with her nephew on Monday.

Deputy Coroner Sharon Craver says the remains appear to be a woman. But she says further testing is needed before the body can be identified, and a cash of death can be determined.
