Man arrested following 3-hour standoff with deputies in Kershaw County
KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A man was arrested after a 3-hour standoff with deputies at a home in Kershaw County, said KCSO.
The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Department said the 31-year-old man barricaded himself in a home in the 1400 block of Horsehead Lane in Lugoff.
Deputies arrived after a shots fired call around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19.
Walter Deonte Halley allegedly fired a gun inside the home before deputies got their special response team and negotiators arrived.
Halley went out of the rear door of the house long enough for KCSO SRT to attempt to hit him with beanbag shots and do a K9 apprehension, said deputies.
But he then ran back inside the home.
Kershaw County deputies said they then began administering gas through the windows of the home when it caught on fire.
Authorities were eventually able to get inside the home and rescued him.
Halley received medical aid before he was taken to the Kershaw County Detention Center.
