USC’s Harper Signs With Nationals

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Bryan Harper won’t be back with the Gamecocks next season. Monday, the left-handed USC reliever announced via Twitter that he will forego his senior season and sign with the Washington Nationals. Bryan, a 30th round draft pick, joins his younger brother Bryce in the Nationals organization. Bryce was the 2010 #1 overall draft pick. Harper appeared in 22 games for the 2011 Gamecocks. The junior college transfer from Las Vegas finished the season with a 1-0 record and 5.40 ERA in 18.1 innings. Harper did not pitch in the College World Series.
