SC deputies hosting National Night Out events
FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) — Law officers around South Carolina are hosting National Night Out events to raise crime prevention awareness in the state’s communities.
In Florence County, deputies on Tuesday are hosting a talk by U.S. Marine Corps Major Terrance Thomas. Thomas heads up installations and logistics for the Marine Corps and is a Florence native.
The department is also honoring an outstanding youth and an adult who have made a difference in the community.
Lexington County Sheriff James Metts is conducting a security exposition near Irmo. Homeowners and business owners can get information about alarm systems, surveillance cameras and security cages for air conditioning units.
There’s also an ice cream social near Batesburg-Leesville, where Metts’ mobile command center and K-9 unit will be on display.
