Local Living: Newberry College jazz festival,USC Opera Program presents ‘She Loves Me’, oyster roast fundraiser

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– In today’s look at Local Living, Newberry College is hosting a jazz festival next weekend.

You can enjoy world-class artists and music on March 1 and March 2.

The weekend will include two all-state jazz ensembles and performances by a record 76 middle and high school jazz bands from across South Carolina.

The event is free to the public.

The show rides into the Colonial Life Arena on March 8 and March 9.

The annual Shuckin’ on the Shoals Oyster Roast fundraiser is being held at Saluda Shoals Park on Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

There will be all you can eat oysters, steamed shrimp, sides, craft beer and more.

It costs $80 for Saluda Shoals Foundation members, $100 for non-members and $25 for those ages 7 to 12.

Those 6 and under can enter for free.

 

The USC Opera Program is presenting ‘She Loves Me’ this weekend at the Drayton Hall Theatre.

‘She Loves Me’ is a heartwarming romantic comedy opera revolving around two bickering coworkers unaware they are secret pen pals.

Tickets are available online, adults are $25 and seniors, military members, USC faculty and staff tickets are $20.

Students with an ID tickets cost $10.
