S.C. Highway Patrol investigates deadly crash

Lexington Co., SC (WOLO) — The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate a deadly crash that claimed one life Wednesday afternoon.

According to Master Trooper William Barrett with SCHP, the accident took place Wednesday just after 12 noon when they say the driver of a 1996 Nissan Pickup truck was heading North along Whetstone Road which is located just outside of Swansey.

Highway Patrol says the driver of the pick up truck ran off of the right side of the road and overcorrected causing the truck to then run off of the left side of the road. Authorities say the vehicle then overturned before striking a tree. Patrol officers say the driver, who has not yet been identified, was the only person in the car at the time of the crash. Officials say he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
