Former SCDJJ employee charged with assault and battery

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A former SCDJJ employee has been charged with assault and battery, says the DJJ.

According to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (SCDJJ), Tyquine Leonard, 28, of Cayce assaulted a youth while working as a juvenile correctional officer with the department.

DJJ officials say Leonard turned himself in to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on Tuesday morning.

He has been charged with misconduct in office and assault and battery third degree.
