Police: Irmo man arrested for sexually assaulting, threatening to kill victim

IRMO, S.C. (WOLO)– A Irmo man has been arrested after threatening to kill someone while sexually assaulting them, say Irmo Police.
The Irmo Police Department says 35-year-old Daquan M. Williams is accused of hitting someone in the face, holding a knife to a victim’s throat and threatening to kill the person all while sexually assaulting them.
The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated after the Wednesday morning incident.
Law enforcement say the victim’s statement and evidence gathered at the scene led them to Williams who was arrested on the same day.
“I am extremely proud of our patrol, community services, and investigations divisions. Their hard work and cooperation resulted in the swift apprehension of an extremely dangerous person today. The Town of Irmo as well as surrounding areas are safer tonight because this individual will not be walking around our streets,” states Chief Bobby Dale.
Williams is being charged with kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct, 1st degree (forcible rape), assault and battery, 1st degree and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
He will be booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
Investigators believe Williams may be connected to similar cases in the area and have reached out to surrounding agencies as part of their on-going investigation.
