Federal Agents Sieze Guns from Columbia Neighborhood

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Residents of Columbia’s Greenview community rest easier now that several firearms are taken out of their neighborhood. The Columbia Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives wrapped up a three-month investigation of gang-related gun trafficking ring. Twenty guns totaling $16,000 were seized during the undercover investigation. Officers monitored a 12-block radius of the Greenview community. With assistance from a community informant, nine suspects have been arrested and charged in federal court. They will spend a combined total of 41.5 years in prison. Residents of that area say they feel a little safer now that the convicted gang members and their guns are off the street.
