Columbia ranked as a Southern city on the rise

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Recently the popular publication Southern Living ranked Columbia as the No.5 City In The South On The Rise.

The article mentioned the city’s investments in the area and improvements made to the city to make it more pedestrian friendly.

It also mentioned the up-and-coming West Columbia neighborhood.

The city of around 140 thousand people has also seen growth in population in the recent years as well as new local businesses opening up shop.

ABC Columbia spoke to Mayor Daniel Rickenmann about what he thinks is drawing attention to Soda City.

Mayor Rickenmann pointed out that there are a variety of job openings in Columbia and more coming to the Midlands with the imminent arrival of Scout Motors to Richland County.
