Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center will have follow-up inspection, officials say
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Today was the deadline for Richland County to respond to the U.S. Justice Department’s investigation into Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
DOJ officials began their investigation into the jail in last year after reports of unsafe conditions and rampant violence.
A letter to County Administrator Leonardo Brown from the department stated the county had 90 days to make the necessary corrections.
Friday, March 15, marks the 90 day period so ABC Columbia reached out to the county.
And a spokesperson for the Department of Corrections confirmed they have received the county’s plan and will conduct a follow-up inspection while working with the county to find solutions.
