General Electric completes split into 3 companies

(CNN)– General Electric, the global conglomerate that makes everything from jet engines to washing machines is now three independent companies.

Today GE completed its plan to split into three companies focused on aviation, health care and energy.

This comes after the company struggled for years with underperforming stock and mounting debt.

The company’s problems intensified when the Covid-19 pandemic hit, crippling its aviation arm when air travel came to a screeching halt.

Executives at the three companies are calling this a promising new era.
