Agape Senior makes $300,000 gift to 3 SC schools

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The health care group Agape Senior is making a $300,000 donation to three South Carolina colleges to foster continuing education and training for the state’s workers.

Agape Senior officials say the gift is being divided among Northeastern Technical College in Cheraw, Midlands Technical College in Columbia and Winthrop University in Rock Hill.

Agape has developed training programs for 1,300 of its own workers with the three colleges in their regions.

Northeastern Tech worked with Agape to develop the state’s first apprenticeship health care program. Midlands Tech has training for caregivers in Agape Senior’s assisted living facilities as well as intensive training for registered nurses. Winthrop has worked with the company to develop a health care management degree program.
