SC attorney general joins multi-state lawsuit challenging federal emissions mandate for heavy duty trucks

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson is joining a multi-state lawsuit challenging a federal emissions mandate for heavy duty trucks.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s mandate is aimed at reducing tail pipe emissions.

According to the lawsuit, the mandate is designed to force manufacturers to produce more electric vehicles than internal combustion engines.

Wilson says the federal government is over-stepping its legal authority and issuing a mandate that will ultimately cost states more money.
