FAA allows Amazon to expand drone program

(CNN)– Your Amazon packages may soon arrive at your doorstep by drone.

Amazon’s drone delivery service gets a green light from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The online retail giant received federal approval to have its drones fly longer distances without ground spotters.

According to Amazon, prior to the announcement, Amazon drones had to fly within a pilot’s view.

Clearing this regulatory hurdle now opens the door for Amazon to start working on servicing more parts of the nation.

The company’s goal is to deliver half-a-billion packages per year using drones by 2030.
