FDA announces cucumber recall in 14 states over potential salmonella contamination
(CNN)– Cucumbers bound for 14 states including South Carolina have been recalled over potential salmonella contamination.
Fresh start produce sales incorporated says the cucumbers were shipped to wholesalers and distributors from May 17th through May 21st.
The recall came after the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture found a product sample tested positive for salmonella.
The Food and Drug Administration is now working to determine whether this is connected to any ongoing outbreaks.
Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause diarrhea, fever, vomiting, and stomach cramps.
The FDA says it is unlikely affected cucumbers made it to grocery stores.
