Teenager arrested in road rage shooting near Lake Murray

Lexington Co., SC (WOLO) —  A Lexington County teenager is facing multiple charges after police say he shot at another driver during a road rage incident. Authorities say the incident took place Tuesday night along Highway 378 not far from Lake Murray.

Deputies say witnesses reported seeing 18 year old Logan Nathanial Cason shoot his gun in the air while driving his SUV. Authorities say he then pointed that gun at the driver of the car driving next to him before firing more shots.

According to an arrest warrant say Cason faces three counts of first degree assault and battery and one count of pointing a firearm at a person.

Before shots rang out deputies say beer bottles and cans were thrown from Cason’s car toward the other car.

Sheriff Lee Koon says, “Deputies collected evidence, including multiple shell casings, from the road,…. “The location of these items was consistent with the information witnesses shared with deputies.”

Officials say during their interview with witnesses they were able to identify Cason as the suspected shooter and later located him at a nearby home.  Cason remains inside of the Lexington County Detention Center Koon said deputies identified Cason as the alleged shooter during their interviews with witnesses. Deputies eventually located him at a home near Lake Murray. They arrested Cason at the home and transported him to the Lexington County Detention Center.
