Lexington Co. coroner identifies person who drowned in Lexington area of Lake Murray

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the person who was recovered from the water in the Lexington area of Lake Murray, said the coroner’s office.

The victim was recovered near the 500 block of Windmere Drive of Lake Murray around 6:34 p.m. on Saturday, June 15.

According to Coroner Fisher, Cody Michael Miterko, 27, of Columbia was recovered from 10 to 15 feet of water after he went missing while in the water with friends.

An autopsy performed on Monday, June 17, confirmed Miterko’s death was due to drowning.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department are continuing to investigate the drowning.
