100K+ pet insurance policies being dumped
(CNN)– Nationwide insurance is dropping pet insurance policies for roughly 100 thousand animals. The company blames higher veterinary costs and other factors.
The move puts tens of thousands of pet owners in a tough spot because a lot of the animals losing coverage are older and have pre-existing conditions.
That means they may not have insurable elsewhere. Nationwide said it didn’t cancel policies because of pets’ ages or claims histories.
According to USA Today, it appears the cancelations may be based in part on where the pet owners live.
