Police arrest 3 suspects after baby suffers injuries, tests positive for Fentanyl, Cocaine, THC

Chesnee, SC (WOLO) —  The Chesnee Police Department contacted the Spartanburg County Special Victims Unit (SVU) after responding to Spartanburg Regional Hospital where they say they were alerted to a severely injured baby.

According to authorities, the 11 month old baby boy was getting ready to be transported to Prisma Health System Pediatrics in Greenville when they say they learned that the child was suffering from multiple contusions on his torso, back and head area. In addition, officials say the baby boy was suffering from severe mouth and eye infections, damaged neck ligaments and various back compression fractures.  Authorities say the baby also tested positive for  Fentanyl, Cocaine, and THC.

Deputies say further investigation which began Sunday showed the little boy sustained injuries while at the a North Alabama Avenue, and Paris Bridge Road home. That baby has been placed in the care of the

Chesnee PD have charged the baby’s mother, 27 year old Hannah Michaela Cason, and 22 year old Dalton Lane Miller, with Unlawful Neglect of a Child for the offenses that occurred in their city limits.

 

Chesnee PD say they also charged the maternal grandmother, 64 year old Kathryn Harbaugh Cason, for failing to report the alleged child abuse and they say an additional charge for misleading investigators.

The Chesnee Police Department arrested the three suspects Monday. Authorities say Cason and Miller are both charged for Felony Child Abuse Resulting in Great Bodily Injury. The Duo is expected to appear in court for a formal bond hearing at the detention center which set to take place Wednesday afternoon.
