(ABC News) — The first presidential debate of the 2024 campaign brought the issues dividing our country front and center.
The debate was full of firsts before it even started.
The first between a sitting president and former president, and the earliest debate ever between two leading candidates .
ABC’s Christiane Cordero is in Atlanta with how it went.
While the nation watched, local politicians were making sure their voices were heard as they laid out opinions for why they support their candidate. U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham was one of the first to hit the internet. Graham who posted online that he was in Atlanta for Thursday night’s debate posted a reaction to the topic of the ongoing war in Israel saying in part, “the world is on fire under Biden. America needs strong leadership back in the Oval office.”
“We saved Israel.” – Joe Biden
Reminder: Israel would have never been brutally attacked by Hamas if Donald J. Trump were President.
The world is on fire under Joe Biden.
America needs strong leadership back in the Oval Office.
