State Christmas Tree Arrives at State House

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Midlands. The State Christmas tree arrived Monday morning at the State House.

According to organizers this years tree is a 35-foot-tall sheared Concolor Fir, also known as a white fir, and comes from Pinetum Christmas Tree Farm in Swanton, Maryland.

The lights and ornaments will soon decorate the tree, organizers say SCE&G will string over 13,000 lights and the garden clubs will hang 900 ornaments.

The tree will be lit during  the 50th Annual Governor’s Carolighting set for Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016 at 7 PM .
