Law enforcement, Humane Society investigating after feral cat found with alterations

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A feral cat was found with unnatural material stuck to its body and other distinctive alterations, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

The cat was found on Independence Day, July 4, near the 7600 block of Garners Ferry Road.

According to the Humane Society, the cat had a glue-like substance covering its whole head.

Which lead to the cat’s eyes and mouth being glued shut, and the substance was stuck in the cat’s nose.

Authorities say the incident occurred between July 1, and July 4.

RCSD is working with the Columbia Police Department and the Humane Society to investigate whether there was foul play or incidental.

Veterinarians say the feral cat has an 80% survival rate, says RCSD.

The Humane Society also added that the cat’s medical care was paid for by the non-profit, For the Love of Street Dogs.
