Convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh wants Supreme Court to review jury tampering
Columbia, SC (WOLO) — Convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh wants the South Carolina State Supreme Court to review jury tampering allegations from earlier this year.
A judge denied Murdaugh’s attempt to get a new trial. The effort was based on allegations that the now-former Colleton County Clerk of Court tampered with the jury by making comments implying Murdaugh’s guilt to jurors.
The judge ruled the comments did not influence the verdict. Murdaugh’s attorneys filed the new motion this week requesting the state’s high court review the retired judge’s ruling before his appeal is determined by the State Court of Appeals.
