More SC troopers to be on roads for Operation Southern Slow Down campaign

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– More South Carolina troopers will be out on the roads this week as part of Operation Southern Slow Down.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the South Carolina Department of Public Safety are urging drivers to stop speeding and putting lives at risk.

Officials say in 2022, 35% of male drivers and 19% of female drivers between the ages of 15 and 20 years old involved in fatal traffic accidents were speeding.

And 35% of all motorcycle riders involved in fatal crashes in 2022 were also speeding.
