Missing SC inmate captured in Columbia

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Prison officials have captured an inmate at a pre-release work center in Columbia who was reported missing after he didn’t show up for a count. Department of Corrections spokesman Clark Newsom says 25-year-old Maurice Bailey was arrested in Columbia at 9:20 a.m. Monday by prison investigators. Bailey was reported missing at 7 p.m. Sunday. Newsom says he was supposed to work at a local restaurant that day, but it’s not clear whether he ever showed up. Bailey was in prison for common law robbery. His 5-year sentence started in 2011, but he had been projected to be released later this year.
