COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The New year means cash for on-line retailers, according to experts, the holiday season was good for on-line sales. But brick and mortar stores saw traffic due to deep discounts.

It may not be a good year for stores in 2017 , with more closings expected. This week Macy’s reported falling sales. Macy’s also says it will cut more than 10,000 jobs, on top of plans to close 68 stores. No stores in South Carolina are reportedly on the list.

And the New year means higher gas prices, we could see the biggest price spike since 2012.

Right now in the Midlands though, drivers are averaging $2.04 a gallon.
