Man, 44, Accused of Sexually Assaulting 9-Year-Old Girl

Kershaw County, S.C. (WOLO) – Kershaw County deputies have arrested a 44-year-old man who they say sexually assaulted a nine-year-old girl.
On December 28, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office got a report from the victim’s mother that Joseph Garcia had sexually assaulted the child.
An investigation began that included a physical exam of the victim, and that lead to officers to get a warrant for Garcia’s arrest.
Deputies say they were able to locate Garcia to a motel in Lancaster County that he was working at.
He was taken into custody by deputies with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department.
Garcia is charged with criminal sexual conduct first degree.
Authorities say additional charged of criminal sexual conduct with other victims are likely in other jurisdictions in South and North Carolina.
Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews said Garcia has an extensive criminal history.
Garcia has previously been arrested for murder, destroying personal property, public disorderly conduct, littering, numerous driving offenses, grand larceny, second degree burglary, DUI, and criminal domestic violence, authorities say.
