Town fries plan to allow chickens in Port Royal
PORT ROYAL, S.C. (AP) — The Port Royal Town Council has killed a plan to allow residents to raise chickens in their yards.
The Island Packet of Hilton head reports http://bit.ly/r8Ualv the council rejected the idea by a 4-0 vote Wednesday.
Members had considered allowing residents to keep up to six chickens on residential property. No one appeared at the meeting to speak in favor of the idea.
Councilman Joe Lee moved to stop the proposal before it received first reading.
