Richland Library Honors Black History Month

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)- The Richland Library hosted its annual Black History Month Fair on Saturday.

The purpose of the fair is to recognized the richness of African-American culture through music, storytelling, dance and more.

“It means a lot for me to come out and do this,” actor portraying Malcolm X ,Cristofher Griffin said. “To be more understanding of my own history or my own heritage with African American history. It’s something that everyone needs to learn and its just a great experience.”

Congressman James Clyburn was a guest speaker. He signed copies of his book”Blessed Experiences: Genuinely Southern, Proudly Black.”

A collection of African tapestry, jewelry and more from the collection of Akua Kouture was on display throughout the day in different parts of the building.

The Richland County Library will host more Black History Month Events throughout February.
