RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A 28-year-old has been convicted by a Richland County jury on Wednesday, Aug. 14, said the solicitor’s office.

Christopher Cravets was convicted on charges of burglary 1st degree, attempted armed robbery, and conspiracy in the shooting death of 41-year-old Delon Knack Summersett.

The Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office said a jury heard testimony that on Nov. 25, 2019, Cravets and two other individuals broke into Summersett’s home through a rear bedroom window with the intent to rob him.

Summersett who was asleep on the couch, woke up to the intruders then a struggle took place.

And that is when the gunman shot Summersett  multiple times.

Investigators said a neighbor’s home security camera captured the perpetrators leaving the area.

When law enforcement arrived to the scene, investigators discovered a fresh blood stain near the point of entry, according to a press release.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) later confirmed through DNA analysis that the blood belonged to Christopher Cravets.

The U.S. Marshals Service arrested Cravets in Conyers, Georgia, on Dec. 27, 2019.

Law enforcement said he confessed to Columbia Police Department investigators to his involvement in the burglary and admitted to being the shooter in an additional statement.

He was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.
