1 SC man found dead after shooting near church
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say an 18-year-old man died in a shooting near a church in Spartanburg.
Spartanburg Public Safety officers say they found O’Shea Markeith Adams of Spartanburg lying on his back about 8:45 p.m. Friday. He had been fatally shot.
Investigators say the shooting could be a related to a series of local shootings since July 31. One man was treated at a hospital after being shot in the abdomen. Other shootings damaged homes.
Capt. Regina Nowak says it appears Adams wasn’t the intended target, but it’s not yet known whether Adams fired any shots or was simply a bystander. Officers found shell casings in two separate areas.
She says investigators believe the shooting involved one group of people in a vehicle and another group on foot.
