Gamecock Fans Give Players Sweet Send Off at Pep Rally
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)- Fresh off a pair of thrilling NCAA Tournament victories, Gamecock fans got to send their favorite players off to the sweet 16 in style.
On Tuesday, fans flooded the outside of the Colonial Life with a sea of garnet and black to give players an extra boost of support.
“The energy is just tremendous, this is like 50 years worth of energy right here,” said Baseline, a known Gamecock supporter.
Before the Gamecock men and women take off Wednesday, they got to hear and see how many fans are rooting for them at home.
“I just believe in these teams, and I wouldn’t have missed it for anything in the world,” Baseline said.
“I just want to see them be very successful and make it all the way,” fan Debra Harrell said.
“They’ve never made it to the sweet 16 so we wanted to come and support them,” fan, Emily Oddo said.
It was a pep rally fit for champions. The gamecock men and women feeling the love from some of their biggest fans.
“I grew up a Carolina Fan and I love sports, I go to all of the events and I wanted to be at the pep rally,” fan, Caroline Chandler said.
“It was really exciting having all the coaches and all the teams come out,” Oddo said.
“I’m glad they pulled it out and stuck it out and brought home the win,” Harrell said.
Some fans will be making their way to the away games to create that home court advantage feel.
“I know the girls will be there so I’ll be with them,”G-hive fan, Diane Taylor said. “I’m going to support them 100%.”
“I am so thrilled,” fan, Emmy Carlton said. “Honestly this pep rally made me even more excited, which I didn’t know was possible.”
For those who won’t will be rooting from home.
“Go Gamecocks and keep believing,” Baseline said. “Believe in the Gamecocks, because they believe in themselves.”
