Photos posted on Facebook leads to arrest in theft

LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say Facebook helped catch a suspected thief, after the South Carolina victim posted surveillance pictures of the crime.

WIS-TV reports Tuesday (http://bit.ly/obEoLp ) that Sam Kanipe’s camera filmed a man stealing a flat-screen TV from his home Aug. 10. He says the thief looked into the camera as he walked into his home. Another frame shows the thief leaving with the TV.

Kanipe says his daughter-in-law posted the pictures on Facebook, and a neighbor identified the suspect.

Deputies say Keith White turned himself in after hearing about the pictures. White lives across the street from Kanipe.

Authorities say White pleaded guilty to stealing a TV from a hospital patient room just four hours before the theft at Kanipe’s. He was ordered to return the TV and pay a $200 fine.
