SC authorities trying to ID body found in creek

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say they are trying to identify skeletal remains found in a Greenville County creek.

Sheriff’s Lt. Michael Hildebrand says the body was found about 9:30 a.m. Monday in a shallow creek off U.S. Highway 276 near a supermarket in Travelers Rest.

Investigators say the body is likely a man, based on clothing found.

Hildebrand says a neighbor walking in the area found the remains.

Deputy Coroner Barry Wright says an autopsy will be performed Tuesday.
