Defense opens for SC man accused of killing 2
COLUMBIA. S.C. (AP) — Defense attorneys are to present their case for a South Carolina man charged with killing his wife and his colleague in a sports gambling ring.
The defense for Brett Parker of Irmo is to begin Thursday. Prosecutors wrapped up their case on Wednesday featuring Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott and a man who said he handled the finances of Parker’s wife, Tammy.
Lott testified meeting with Brett Parker six times after the killing. Lott said at one meeting he told Parker some of his statements weren’t matching with evidence.
Parker has said Bryan Capnerhurst came to his home and shot his wife in an upstairs room. Parker said after hearing the shots he ran upstairs to face Capnerhurst, who demanded money at gunpoint before Parker shot him.
