Mayor Renames Block to CLA “Dawn Staley Way”

While recounting the Gamecocks’ journey to the top at their NCAA Championship parade Sunday, Carolina head coach Dawn Staley was provided with another, but unexpected blessing.

The block leading up to Colonial Life Arena on Lincoln St., between Pendleton and Assembly, will now be known as “Dawn Staley Way”.

Columbia’s Mayor Steve Benjamin announced the renaming of the street on the State House Steps in front of thousands of Gamecocks fans lined up and down Main St. following the team’s procession on floats. The newest street sign in the city is already up, located on the corner of Staley’s home court.
