Sumter Shooting

(WOLO) Columbia, SC-Sumter Police are searching for a 27 year old Sumter man believed to be involved in a shooting incident that took place last night. At approximately 8:15pm Sumter Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the first block of Gate Street. Upon arrival officers found a 28 year old male and a 62 year old female with apparent gunshot wounds at the scene. Witnesses told police that the subject, identified as John Colclough Jr., and the male victim got into a verbal argument in the yard of the residence. During the argument Colclough presented a handgun and fired several shots at the male victim striking him in the right leg also striking the female victim in the right shoulder. Colclough fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. The victims were transported to Tuomey Regional Medical Center for treatment of the gunshot wounds. The victims‘ injuries are not considered life threatening. Another female victim received minor injuries from flying debris during the incident, but did not require medical treatment. The suspect, John Charles Colclough Jr., is wanted by the Sumter Police Department for Attempted Murder. He is described as a black male, 27 years old, 5‘10″ tall, 210lbs.
