Coroner releases cause of death of suspect in officer-involved shooting

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – The Lexington County Coroner has released the autopsy results of the man killed in an officer-involved shooting Tuesday morning.
Coroner Margaret Fisher said John Bittle, 39, died as a result of a gunshot to the abdomen.
Bittle died after a Lexington County Sheriff’s deputy shot him in the 200 block of Seleta Circle, near Pond Branch Road.
Sheriff Kay Koon said Bittle had an outstanding warrant for two counts of distributing meth and ran from authorities.
SLED is still investigating the shooting.
