Riders Remember while Riding
Jennifer Lee explains the Riders Remembered annual ride to Tyler Ryan on Good Morning Columbia
LEXINGTON, SC (WOLO)–On June 19 2013, motorcycle lover and Richland County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Derek El Dada and his wife, Leigh, were on an evening ride near Lake Murray, when a car crossed the center line, striking their bike, and killing them. The outpouring from the motorcycle community was immediate, and passionate. The El Dada’s left behind two daughters, which inspired their friend Jennifer Lee to organize the first Riders Remembered Ride and Poker Run.
The ride has become an annual tradition, and once again this year, riders from the Iron Order MC, along with riders and even non-riders will gather in Lexington to celebrate the El Dada’s, and help raise money for another motorcycle brother taken from his family in a hit and run, John Seymour.
The 2017 ride and poker run is scheduled for May 13th, with the blessing of the bikes starting at 10:30AM, at the St. James Lutheran Church on South Lake Drive.
