Man Convicted in Shooting Outside SC Waffle House

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) _ A 28-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for a shooting death in the parking lot of a Waffle House restaurant in Spartanburg. Antwon Baker Jr. was sentenced Thursday after a jury found him guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the shooting last June. Authorities said Baker had been arguing with 23-year-old Anthony Young when Baker pulled out a gun and shot Young several times. Young died at the scene. Baker’s attorney argued the shooting was in self-defense. Before he was sentenced, Baker apologized to Young’s family.
