Explosive device found during litter pickup in SC
LAURENS, S.C. (AP) — State police have blown up an explosive device found during a volunteer cleanup day in a South Carolina community.
Laurens County Sheriff Ricky Chastain says a volunteer helping clean up a neighborhood on Saturday afternoon found something wrapped in duct tape with the words “bomb test” on it.
Explosive technicians from the State Law Enforcement Division were called in to examine the item and detonate it.
SLED officials planned to take the device to testing facilities in Columbia for further examination.
