Midlands Family Pleas for Answers in Unsolved Murder
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Nearly a year after the death of their loved one, an area family is once again asking the public to help bring Marcus Posey’s killer or killers to justice.
Posey’s family remembers him as someone who was always smiling and kept an upbeat attitude.
“He can have nothing but he was rich and it didn’t matter to anybody else in the world because he’d do it to himself and that’s the important thing. just two words to sum him up: still shining,” his brother Alvin said.
Richland County Deputies say Marcus Posey was shot to death on Blue Ridge Terrace after walking home from work last May. His family believes some one knows who did this to Marcus.
“I’m asking the ones were involved to please come forward. it won’t bring him back but at least it will bring closure,” said Marcus’ mother, Ella.
Investigators who are still working on the case believe more than one person was involved in Marcus’ murder but they hope community members can help fill in some blanks.
“It’s undetermined at this time whether Mr. Posey was familiar with his assailants or not but we believe that someone in the community may have heard or saw something and they need to come forward. they can remain anonymous again by calling 1-888-CRIME-SC,” said RCSD Senior Investigator Stephen Bauway.
