One Person Displaced After Overnight House Fires

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)- The Columbia Fire Department is investigating after two homes went up in flames Friday night, leaving one person displaced.

Fire officials responded to the fires in the 1600 block Mayer St around 11p.m. According to the Columbia Fire Department’s Twitter account, it took them a little more than two hours to get the fires out, including a truck and its trailer that is a complete loss.

The rear of the primary home suffered significant damage, causing one man to be displaced. He is receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

The second home received fire and smoke damage. No injuries were reported.

The cause of these fires are under investigation.
