Man Accused of Shooting, Killing Relative at Graduation Party Charged With Murder

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)- Columbia Police Investigators have arrested a man accused of shooting and killing a relative during a graduation celebration Saturday night.

Christopher Jamaal Jones, 26, was arrested and is charged with murder.

Jones is accused of shooting the victim during an argument at a graducation celebration just before 9:00 p.m. Saturday on Apple Valley Road.

According to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts, 31-year-old Jarritt Demonteze Rodgers died during surgery at a local hospital after being shot in the neck and upper body.

Jones is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
