1 of 4 escaped Chesterfield County inmates arrested in Richland County, say deputies
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– One of the four inmates who escaped from the Chesterfield County Detention Center on Monday has been arrested in Richland County, say deputies.
Emanuel Planco was arrested by Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputies in the early morning hours of Thursday, October 17.
RCSD is charging Planco with failure to stop for blue lights and siren, reckless driving, possession of a stolen vehicle, grand larceny, burglary 1st, and financial transaction card theft.
Deputies say they responded just before 2 a.m. in the 1400 block of Willow Oak Drive in relation to a suspicious person possibly breaking into vehicles.
When deputies arrived to the scene, they attempted to make contact with the person, and an RCSD K9 Specialist observed the person break into a Kia.
The person fled the location which initiated a pursuit that continued to the area of Lone Drive off of Farrow Road when deputies deployed stop sticks.
He then fled from the vehicle, which then initiated a foot pursuit.
Richland County deputies say K9 Kiro was able to track the person into the wood line on Lone Drive, and he was apprehended and identified as Emanuel Planco.
Planco was taken to a local hospital to be treated for dog bites.
Deputies say upon further investigation, it was determined that earlier in the night Planco had attempted to break into a home near Willow Oak Drive and steal a bicycle when the homeowner saw him on video and fired a shot into the air, scaring Planco off.
Additionally, it was discovered that Planco also broke into at least three other vehicles in the 1400 block of Willow Oak Drive.
He is accused of stealing a Play Station 4, multiple credit cards, and IDs.
Planco will be booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
RCSD says Chesterfield County will bring their own charges against him.
SLED says the other three inmates, Anton Conway Bennett, Kyonne Marquise McLeod, and De’Shawn Malik Fox are still wanted.
